  • Fills in some details on a case that gripped a generation

The Boston Strangler was erupted during the Kennedy Administration. It was one of - if not the - first serial killing case to be so public since Jack the Ripper, or so story goes. During one summer, several elderly women were strangled. Then the MO changes to younger women accompanied by sexual assault, finally with slashings. Thirteen women in all, the city seemed unsafe, the police impotent, and the rest of the world couldn't look away. This show interviews people involved in the case - prosecution, defense, psychiatric and family. I enjoyed the details it supplied on a case that I recalled from my childhood. It ends up with the clincher - DNA evidence from both the alleged killer (Albert DeSalvo), and at least 1 victim. This pointed conclusively to DeSalvo, and convinces most but not all the remaining doubters. The one complaint I have is the way the film plays with the storyline - interviews with those involved at various stages of their knowledge instead of going right to the conclusion, but then there wouldn't be drama would there?
