Space Babes from Outer Space (2017) Reviews

  • Where's The Nudity?

    arfdawg-12018-10-12

I'm really getting sick of watching these so called retro exploitation flicks and the makers don't understand the format -- plenty of topless babes. What's the point of blood (and this flick doesn't really have enuf of that either) without hot boobies flopping around? The movie is a bore.

  • Are we watched the same movie?

    cashovina2018-10-12

I fyou dont have any smarter things to do, you watched all the good movies in the world, and you are a fan of low budget, bad acting, bad humor, bad story, third rate trash, and you want to ruin your day, this is a movie for you.

  • It's A Feminist Triumph.

You can't help but think that with a cast of A-List celebrities or a well-known director such as Steven Speilberg this film would be nominated for an Academy Award. The storyline was a solid original plot where three young ladies from a planet of all women find themselves trapped on Earth seeking a unique form of energy to fuel their space vessel. It isn't a solid Sci-Fi for many fans, but it is a rather remarkable love story in the vein opf 2017's 'The Space Between Us'. Ellie Church, Allison Maier, and Alyss Winkler carried this film. Respectfully I haven't seen this kind of talent from strong female role models since the 2002 film 'Chicago'. Ellie Church & Brian Papandrea (as Charlie) brought an on screen chemistry for the love story that I haven't seen since the 1950 French film 'Un Chant d'Amour'. Powerful heart touching drama. I genuinely felt the love between this duo. I only had two criticisms regarding 'Space Babes From Outer Space'; Although this movie was marginally female driven, my first criticism has to be the lack of racial diversity. I could easily imagine someone like Yaya Alafia or Lupita Nyong'o being part of this undertaking. My last criticism would be the character of 'Carrieola' was under-used in several scenes that required nudity. I understand for some that on screen nude scenes can often be a career ender, but in situations where the female body is part of an expressive nature ('The Wrestler" 2008) rather than a gratuity of flesh ('Nymphomaniac' 2013) it is simply necessary. The ending itself (which I won't spoil for anyone) is quite a twist. It was reminiscent of M. Night Shyamalan staple of movie twists that I recall from 'The Sixth Sence' - I literally did not see it coming. Recognizably this film is not for everyone. It came to life as a Kickstarter campaign and is an easy target for trolls who like to hate on matriarchal ideologies. While it is humorous at times, it is not as funny as ( say) the science fiction classic 'Space Balls'. It is a relatively fresh take on modern society that is suppressive of an opposition through censorship - for example those who might refuse Netflix movies to be nominated for prestigious film awards. I found this film to be entertaining, although for full disclosure I watched it for free, and I suspect the majority of viewers would appreciate the same. More bluntly; do not pay for this movie if you can see it in gratis.

  • Great schlock

    tyree_hoffman2017-07-02

It's like Troma and classic 80s late night cult schlock got together and had a baby in 2017! So many great puns! An amazing 80s-esque soundtrack! This is by far one of the best films I've seen this year! Space Babes From Outer Space has cult classic written all over it! This film has that "late night comedy" feel, without the overabundance of nudity in an attempt to lock in viewers (not to say that there isn't plenty of nudity, but those scenes aren't the selling point of the film). It's definitely the sort of film that you can watch again and again with some chicken nuggets, a few cold beers, and your best friends.

  • Funny T&A exploits, nice production quality

    Royson582018-04-11

Although not a classic, I think this will be enjoyable by most looking for good humor, classic T&A presentation (topless nudity of women, but no FF), with good production quality. References to classics such as "Porky's" is fair, although those were more about teenage hormones. Here we have one main male, Charlie, who's the lucky first guy to meet the three crash landed female aliens. There were some points which simply didn't work for me. The first was Charlie's family scene (were he takes his favorite alien). Simply too long, unfunny, and introduced you to multiple people who you don't like, etc., etc. Second, in the 21st century, we still have the double standard of what is nasty for women is OK for men. Charlie's crush has the opportunity to have multiple male sex partners, but can't go through with it. Of course, that doesn't hold true for Charlie. Even in the '80s, they would have found that odd. Some of the humor was very funny, which is really what this is all about. Not great, but enjoyable.
