Yeojung saeng A (2018) Reviews

  • Good Enough

Student A is an odd movie. First of all, the cinematography was wierd. Not when it came to the whole gaming universe, but the overall shots were filmed oddly. Also, the story got a bit odd as well at some point and they didn't explain why that happened. Nevertheless, the performances, especially from the leading lady, were really good and the story was interesting and dark. Unlike what the description provide as information, the plot presented some hard aspects of a teenager's life, like her father abusing her or being bullied at school. So, overall, 6 out of 10.

  • Student A exp.

It had such an unussual starting scene. In the beginning, it seemed like a typical movie about overcoming bullying which kinda was a bit boring for me but as the story went on, i found myself so into it. I could almost feel how the main character was actually feeling. Such a unique and captivating story. What also was kinda messing with my head throughout the movie is that you keep thinking what the end already is or seem to be (as seen in the first part of the movie). Overall, its an interesting movie. Kinda boring (for me) in the beginning so you just have to keep watching and maybe get into it aswell.

  • I cried a lot yet, and I hate sad movies, yet thoroughly enjoyed it.

This is definitely my favorite Korean movie, and I've watched a tonne. This movie was truly one of a kind. I generally hate sad movies and avoid them, so I'm lucky I had no idea it was going to be sad. I enjoyed it because it wasn't really about how pitiful the girl was the entire time, like a lot of Korean movies. There are many scenes where you will cry with the main character, and normally I hate it when the romance is very subtle but this one made it very enjoyable. I wasn't even sure they liked each other by the end or if they were just friends. And strangely enough, I did not hate that. In fact it was realistic. The cinematography in my opinion was good. There was only one thing I felt was a bit weird. The way suicide was conveyed at the end was beautiful, but in the middle I was unsure about the way the male character responded. By the end of the movie though, I understood the message well, which is all that matters.
