  • HOME SWEET HOME

This little jewel of a low budget film pushed my buttons like no other. The discomfort that I experienced watching it was very real. This trip back to suburbia made me feel claustrophobic…which explains why I completely identified with Jack Kerrigan's character, Theo, a writer who now lives in Los Angeles but goes back home to middle America when his father has a gun accident. The minute he gets there, Theo remembers why he left… his is a dysfunctional family at its best! Probably just like any other… -) But A little Crazy quickly reminds us of the characters in our lives such as the depressed father, the New-Age mother, the motivational speaker brother and the loser sister. Theo's family conflicts bring him down and he quickly finds himself in a life-crisis. Home Sweet Home indeed! A little Crazy is a perfect example of what a talented director can accomplish when shooting on a micro-budget... no money but lots of candy! Jordan Ellis surrounded himself with an impressive cast and really knew how to direct the actors in his original screenplay. They were very colorful but never over the top. I look forward to Jordan Ellis' future projects. His is the work of a talented director who speaks from the heart. You can always buy production value, but you can't buy talent… I am very curious to see what Ellis will accomplish with a real budge! Should be interesting….
