Dr. Dolittle 3 (2006) Reviews
So they really do need Eddie Murphy
I wanted to finish the Dr. Dolittle sequels and in some way I was interested to see how they would continue the story with Mya Dolittle. Well, this movie turned into a totally unrealistic typical pre-teen comedy that had no originality or interest, even if it was meant for a specific crowd. It was insulting to any human's intelligence, I mean, are we supposed to believe everyone naturally knows how to dance at a party? Or that Mya could sing beautifully, dance wonderfully, and be perfect and not be popular? Mya is now considered a freak at her school since she can talk to the animals. But when her mom realizes she still needs to find herself, she sends Mya to a ranch where Mya changes her name to get a new look and personality. But she ends up falling for the ranch owner's son and they face another ranch of snobs, the ranch owner is about to loose his farm and Mya decides to pull the team together to win the money to keep the ranch. Well, you see where this story is going, and it's a typical one. I was really disappointed with the movie and I wouldn't really recommend it, even for pre-teens, for me, I think it has insults their intelligence, it's just one of those movies, believe me. Stick with Eddie Murphy, he's a professional. 2/10
They really didn't need Murphy. What they DID need was a good script writer!
I have to say that I did not hate this movie. I can understand the 3. rating here at IMDb, but I cannot understand the poor reviews. Kyla Pratt is awesome in this work! She is really coming into her own, AND she can sing like a bird. The script is where the fault lies. You have a bunch of kids who must save a ranch, which is going out of business. This vehicle is so overused it has become cliché, and it sure did feel old, musty, and stale, in spite of Kyla Pratt and her stellar performance. Some have suggested that they needed Murphy back for this installment to make it work. I say Murphy isn't necessary in ANY of his later films. What they needed was a good screenwriter, and producers who knew better than to approve a bucket of schlock as this. It could have been great. It rates a 4.4/10 from... the Fiend :.
The first movie was great, the second OK, but the third......to be not continued.
At the beginning you see the director focusing on other character of the Dolittle family, the teenager daughter of Dr. Doolittle, trying to give the movie a fresh twist. But folks the only thing it did was make this film flat, with a very few laughs, no charisma and in a horrifying way of being predictable in almost of the movie, it's like you can see how its gonna end after you've watch the firsts 15 min. In conclusion this movie its not even good to entertain kids, I don't recommend this one, just skip it. The only thing i get from Dr. Dolittle 3 is that i miss Eddy Murphy's way of making me laugh until my lungs come out from my nose holes...
More red flags than a movie made by the Sci-fi channel
My mom put this on our rental queue, and I did some research on it while it sat there while it snaked it's way to the top of the list. It was here at IMDb that I saw Red Flags, a shortened way of saying "things that indicate that the movie you are going to see is going to be a painful experience that you're probably going to turn off to stop the pain". First off, no Eddie Murphy. Let's think about this, people: a sequel to a film whose main character isn't even present for. If the MOVIE is called Dr. Dolittle 3, I think you'd expect Dr. Dolittle to be there in some physical way. In other words, if they really wanted to waste some cash on a movie that shouldn't have been green lit but was because of a studio believing in capitalizing on franchises instead of releasing quality films, they should have renamed it. Second Red Flag: hordes of reviewers calling it a "family movie". I'm sorry people, but if you're calling it a "family movie" it tends to be a euphemism for "hokey garbage that you hope will entertain your kids for 2 hours while you pray to God for it to end". Red Flag #3, the fact that this was a straight to film release, a MAJOR sign of mediocrity/ disappointment being eminent: frankly, I don't know why production companies even release projects that are straight to video, they may as well just pull the plug on the project and get a refund much like the disappointed viewers who feel like they've been conned by the film companies. The 4th Red Flag came when it arrived and we forced ourselves to watch it. 10 minutes later, the movie was turned off: none of us could sit through it because it was horrible and you could feel the financial failure pulsating through every frame. In other words, you're getting a jaded movie review here because I didn't even bother to watch the entire feature, and I'm pretty sure you understand why.
Not very funny or well done.
It was an OK movie.I ca'nt see why people are rating it so hi?Maybe they work for the company haha.Do'nt even think it's going to be anything like the first 2.I hope my young grandkids will like it.My wife stopped watching it ,I wanted to but like to see endings. It had a few laughs, but wish id had read the reviews first.I ca'nt see why it's so hard for movie companies to,make sequels.Or they just make it as low budget as possible. Tey don't want you to pirate movies but do they care if you pay good money for garbage? I don't feel sorry for any of the studios. I can also see why murphy did'nt act in this one.Enough with not enough lines already Gary
