• Even a good cast finds it difficult to save this film

  Jackson Durai is another addition to the popular "Horror-comedy genre". Does it add value to this genre? Or does it comprise run-of- the- mill elements often associated with this genre? Read more to find out .. Jackson Durai directed by Dharanidharan (of Burma fame) is about how a series of paranormal activities get entwined with the life of a policeman. How does the police officer tackle this? How does he handle this? Jackson Durai answers these queries. One can expect that someone who directed Burma will definitely sparkle up the screen. Instead, what we get is a mediocre transition of a tiring attempt. Punctured by a lot of loopholes the movie suffers from a lazy screenplay. The story in itself is all over the place and lacks focus. Moving at a shallow note, Jackson Durai excites us at a few places but predominantly features a flat scale. At times we are left wondering " Where is the high point? Why hasn't the graph spiked up?" Following his previous venture, Iraivi, Vivek Harshan again takes care of editing in Jackson Durai. But his editing is bare and the sequences often leak into one another. But the jump scare cuts and edits often associated with the horror genre have been executed down right to the tee. The pace often takes a backseat and although it eventually does pick up, it is bound to test the patience of many. The cast has done a good job. The DoP, Yuvraj, has done a decent job. The BGM fills up the quiet moments and fulfills its purpose quite effectively. The costume design and the hands behind the makeup department have rolled up their socks to give a shot at making their attempts work out and have churned out fair results. But it's the art design that stands out. An impressive art design is successful when it comes to recreating the premise of a place haunted by ghosts. Similarly the art director has quite effectively handled the transitions and is able to differentiate it with relative ease. Overall the director seems to have tried his best at giving us an entertaining feature but instead cluelessly heads in a direction which lacks a sense of purpose. He handles a texture that is not definite and weaves a rather loose structure around it. Verdict: Even a good cast finds it difficult to save this film

  The movie was worst. Nobody acted good in the movie. Songs and BGM in the movie were also worst. The comedy scenes and the story in the movie were also very irritating.

• Yet an another kollywood horror film!

  Usual kollywood horror film that wants to scare you and wants to make you laugh at the same time. Enough has been said and written about the horror films made in kollywood and this film Jackson Durai is no different, Locking up the term logic in bank locker safely, all the director wants to do is to scare you, make you laugh, scare you, make you laugh, Usual back story for the ghost and then what its the same, scare you, make you laugh, scare you, make you laugh. Sibiraj's acting looks ameture while Satyaraj compensates with it. The only relief of the film is Yogi babu, gem of a performance with his comic timings, even the screen where he isn't shown, he makes us laugh with his one liners.

• Interesting suspense Humor thriller , British Ghost vs Indian Ghost :)

  Director Dharani Dharan's debut movie Burma had some well executed dark comedy moments. In his second film JacksonDurai, the director has tried to use his comic strength along with spooky elements to score a commercial hit. Director's ideology of mixing fantasy, horror and spoof is laudable, Although all the actors are capable of pulling off the characters given to them, the unique screenplay offered big entertainment. Dharanidharan has shown this film in interesting and unique manner. Sibraj looks apt for this role. He wanted to reveal the mystery behind the haunted area!! So, he start investigating it and funny scenes between Sibraj and Karunakaran worked well. BinduMadhavi is the female lead. She looks good !! She did her role perfectly according to that role. JacksonDurai – Plus Points: Direction ,Script ,Art , Dialogues - Comedy , Cinematography & Background Score. The story plot itself is interesting, which is about the fight between Indian and British Ghosts. Sathyaraj and Rajendran acted very well. Sibraj, Karunakaran and Bindu Madhavi performance are also good. Even though, the songs did not attract that much, But i enjoyed the movie till end. Overall, Jackson Durai is a decent horror comedy and watchable for the unique script and Brilliant Direction. Verdict: Interesting suspense Adventurous Humor thriller - A laugh Riot
