Kill Buljo: The Movie (2007) Reviews

  • This is a great movie!

As most of you know, a dubbed movie is not nearly as good as the original. In this movie there is no exception. I've read all of the other reviews, and most of them is negative. But I think the reason is that the writers of the reviews are not from Norway. I myself am from Norway, and I didn't like the movie just because it from the same country as myself. Frankly, a lot of Norwegian films are horrible, but this one is one of the funniest parodies I've ever seen! I've read comments with complains about bad acting, but that is one of the things that makes this movie so hilarious! Another thing is that the people from the southern half of Norway, thinks the way of speaking in northern Norway is funny, so you have to understand Norwegian to be fully able to enjoy this movie. And you must consider that this movie is a low-budget film, so keep your expectations down, or you are doomed to be disappointed. If you want to see this film, and do not understand Norwegian, at least watch it with subtitles, cause the voice of the actors plays a big part in this movie.

  • People from northern Norway, laugh your ass off

I am from the town that this movie was made in, and I have seen and talked to the director and the actors on several occasions. I can see that it may be hard for folks that aren't from Norway to get the humor of the film, hell even the people who live in the southern Norway have a difficult time getting it all... So with that said, this movie is maybe not for everyone. It's not meant to be just a parody of Tarantino's "Kill Bill" movies, this film uses lots and lots of local humor which to other viewers may seem very lame. So I can understand why this movie have got a bad rating here, but if we all came from northern Norway this movie would have 10 Stars :)

  • Extremely Funny!!!

Why am I the only person that loves movies that other people hate? I watched this in the back seat of the family van, while going to a 4th of July party, and I thought it was incredibly hilarious! I should have watched Norwegian comedy a long time ago. The film spoofs Kill Bill. A man named Jompa Torman is reluctantly about to be married until Tampa Buljo, Crazy Beibifeit, Dr. Kjell Driver, and Bud Light kill all of his family and try to kill him. After he wakes up from his coma, he is a man with nothing to lose and takes the law into his own hands. Hot on his trail is a dumb and mean-spirited cop named Sid Wisløff and his partner, Unni Formen. Sid wants Jompa behind bars, but Unni begins to realize that he is innocent. I literally laughed until I cried! I highly recommend KILL BULJO!!! p.s. HAPPY 4TH OF JULY!

This is a must see! A group of friends from a small town i northern Norway has made a low budget spoof movie loosely based on Tarantino's Kill Bill - and it's funny as heck! For movie aficionados it contains references to a fjord-load of classics, from Star Wars to Deliverance, in addition to the obvious likeness to the two Kill Bills. Splatter, cheesy one-liners and arctic ass-kicking all rolled into one big snowball of lowbrow laughs. Oh, and plenty of ham acting intermixed with some quite talented amateurs. The snowmobile chase scene alone is worth the price of admission! It is quite interesting that this movie has been made with almost no support from the Norwegian film establishment, and yet it's a bigger hit with young audiences than most productions that costs ten or twenty times more to make. Just goes to show that an original idea and a love of movie-making wins over money and prestige every time.

  • Funny, but also horrendously bad

I remember seeing this at my video rental shop and feeling a small spark of joy in my heart. A parody of Kill Bill? Brilliant! I love parodies! And so I rented it, expecting a lot...maybe too much. The beginning of the film made me laugh. The parody of the wedding massacre with all the body outlines on the floor, including a reindeer was very good, but when the actors came in everything went to hell. The acting is bad, terminally bad. The main actors expression does not change once throughout the whole bloody film!! In fact the whole acting part reminded me of some cheap, unenthusiastic college joke film. The film has funny jokes in it, but it has a nice truckload of poor and frankly disgusting ones to shove the good ones out of the audience's mind. Most of those bad jokes involve coprophilia, bestiality (oh yes there is some in there), scatological humour and tired and overused jokes (the "I am your father" one is spectacularly painful to watch). The dubbing was horrendous and clashed with the poor acting. The Englisg voice acting was very over-dramatic compared to the wooden, never- changing expressions of the actors...if zombies were picked to play human characters this film would be the result. There is also a long running obsession with homosexual rape, bestiality and coprophilia in this movie, why? I don't know, I suppose they just thought that a fat cross-dressing Madame Irma type character crapping in a bowl was hilarious so they included it. Also, racist attitudes towards Laps apparently stem from homosexual rape by burly Scandinavian lumberjacks...what were they thinking? The final scenes of the film really show that the people making it just gave up. The sword fight with Buljo is ridiculous, with the two fighters randomly and softly clashing their katanas together...and then there's the "I am your father joke". WHY?! When the reason why the evil gang of cattle rustlers (?) or whatever they are reveal why they tried to kill the main character you will have a good laugh as it is pretty funny...but then your mirth will be snatched away by the clumsy and painfully unfunny fighting scenes...oh, and the Star Wars joke too, did I mention that? And finally, the evil Buljo is killed and you are treated to some premium quality arse-groping...so funny. All in all this film has funny aspects to it, but the sheer randomness and disgusting humour just spoils it completely and seems to show a lack of effort from the creators. If you like watching films with insanely stupid and disgusting random humour or just like low budget films, go ahead and rent it, there is worse stuff out there...but I recommend you get yourself some beer to go with it.
