Great Chinese adventure heist movie
I really love the modern Chinese movies, great visual effects. This movie is an adventure movie, Indiana Jones-like one with a touch of humour. Definitely to recommend!
Fun with absurdity
If you look at this as a parody of Indiana Jones films with three times the action and twice the plot you can enjoy this period piece with pre-war trains and planes and exotic settings. There are Russian bad guys, American provocateurs, an Arabian prince, unscrupurous Japanese and the women are tougher than men (a line in the movie). Locations move from the Gobi Desert and Mongolia to Nanjing and Shanghai as an unlikely trio of protaganists chase an illusive artefact of ancient significance. Halfway through it becomes like a Mission Impossible episode, on the Titantic, with a quasimodo like Darth Vader lurking in the background.
