Apparently, the Lifetime movie is indeed based on a true story. It follows the real life account of a 16-year-old high school student named Jamie Fuller, who murdered his 14-year-old girlfriend, Amy Carnevale. Fuller was very possessive and abusive towards Amy. When Carnevale broke up with him, he didn't take it too well. Fuller lured Carnevale to spend time with him and his friends in the woods. When Fuller was alone in the forest with Carnevale, he reportedly stabbed her 10 times and slashed her throat. Carnevale was murdered on August 23, 1991, in Beverly, Massachusetts. I actually thought this movie was done very well. I have missed seeing Shannen on the screen during her battle with cancer. Glad to see her back. I am not sure why anyone would rate this movie low. It is a Lifetime TV movie all of them are pretty good, but not meant to be a big screen production. If you watch TV movies you would already know this. Anyway, I think that this was a great example of a DV teen relationship. They don't want anyone to know, the guy makes them feel amazing one minute and the next abuses them. I wish there were more of these to bring awareness. You hear about other issues but never DV teen relationships.
I have watched the original version of this movie numerous times, but I would never watch this version again. Newer TV movies aren't re-watchable like the ones from the old days, but besides that, I feel this particular version was much more emotional and heavy, too much so for me. I thought the casting of all the main players was good. I'm not understanding this theory that Fred Savage and the lastest guy to play the role were too nice looking, too innocent looking. What does an abuser look like? Is he supposed to look rough and tough? Guys who look like nice guys can't beat the crap out of someone and make them feel horrible? Thinking like that is stupid, and obviously it isn't true. I feel some people don't realize this movie and the original are based on a true crime, so they think it is OK to make insensitive statements.
As a man I found this movie so terribly sad, but even sadder is that it's based on a true story. We have to stop domestic violence there's no place for it in our society. It was so well produced and totally believable. I'll always remember this movie, most I watch then kind of forget but not this.
I loved the first version of this movie but sometimes things are better off left alone. The only believable actor was Nicki, she really was good. The scenes jumped so much around it was awful. No ones acting was believable when they found there daughter & friend in the lake. Even the background music was annoying. If I could of rated this lower than a 1 I sure would of.
I liked the first version of this movie with Candace Cameron Bure much better. However, this version was good too. This isn't the first time LMN aired a movie about teenagers getting abused by their boyfriends. Its sort of the norm. But this one feels a little different from the rest. I'm not sure If I like the actress they picked for the main Character. It was great to see Shannen Doherty back on the small screen. She was great in the film. It was nothing special but still a little entertaining, to say the least.
