The film narrates the story of Prem, a young and eager student of Karate and a beloved member of a large joint family. Prem, played by Vikram, and his family all live together in the beautiful and lush green environs of the Western Ghats. While Prem is a college drop-out, his passion for Karate is unmatched. Extremely ambitious about achieving something worthwhile in Karate, he ably guided by his Master. Life has other plans however, as a fateful roundhouse kick brings into his life a beautiful girl one day. The thought of this girl, Pallavi haunts him deeply, and before long he finds himself in love with her. His dreams of being with Pallavi hamper his efforts to achieve his life's goals. As bold a proponent as he is in the Martial arts, he finds himself ill-equipped to deal with the trappings of love, unable to express fully or directly what he would like to. As a challenge for himself, he brings his two great loves together as he decides to confess his feelings towards her upon winning a State Level Karate Championship. Pallavi too, on her part herself solicits a rendezvous with him at the same time. In a freak turn of events, it appears as if she has pushed him off the hillock where they were. Prem is found hanging precariously off a tree, and carried off for medical attention. Following treatment, our hero is now a different man dangerously obsessed with Pallavi. He repeatedly enquires about her whereabouts but to no avail as she has been absconding since the incident. He convinces his friends to help him seek her out, but nothing comes of it. His obsession for her slowly drives him away from a measured path of living, and away from the love and affection that he receives endlessly from friends and family. He gets into bad habits and addictions that through the course of consequences cause him to his father, his friend, philosopher and guide. Becoming aware of how he has turned out, Prem puts in a conscious effort to make a change. Over several years, he moves on to bigger and better things, even winning an International Karate Championship amongst several others, along the way. But despite the 6 or 7 years since he last saw her, his love, and his search for Pallavi is unwavering. As life would have it, it appears now that our hero and his friends have found her finally. Or have they? Will Prem and Pallavi meet again? Will they be one again? What really conspired in our Prema Pallakki? The film is inspired off a couple of real life incidents, that occurred in and around Bangalore.
