When Shui Zhang travels to France one day to enlist Waley's help in auctioning a bottle of red wine called "The God of Wine," said to contain Kublai Khan's secret wine-brewing recipe, Waley accepted the challenge in a heartbeat. Gee, another ridiculous Chinese crappy film with a lousy screenplay, ridiculous scenarios and moronic plots, poorly directed and horrible cast and acting...all of it, the whole nine yards, man. I was totally lost when I saw on the screen, it showed one of the worst male actors in Chinese movie history, now's the director of this ridiculous film. And again, the Chinese movie investor and the movie maker thought borrowing the French locality as the movie's going-on background was so exotic and cool. The huge logistic job of shipping a lot of Chinese non-talent actors to France, wasted a lot of money for the whole production team was no big deal to them, since they had deep pockets to do whatever fantasy they dreamed up, no matter how shallow and ridiculous it might be, budget is no problem. Now the Chinese people wanted to catch up the red wine drinking culture to show how rich and civilize they are now, but what we saw in this film and all of the similar laughable Chinese films, Chinese men and women consume the red wine like drinking water, they don't know how to appreciate the wine to appreciate the specific unique aroma and exquisite taste of it by sipping and conservatively drink it slowly and enjoy it, but gulp it up in full wine glass, banging glasses, yelling "Gan Bei (bottom up)!" like drinking Cola or juice to quench the thirst. There's Chinese old saying we all heard among the Chinese: "When a poor guy suddenly becomes so rich and liberate from his poverty, he and his poor family members need at least three generations to learn how to eat, drink, dress and walk like rich people, and properly become tolerably presentable as an entry level upper class." But here, we saw a bunch of the Chinese people invaded the French soil, just wanted to intercept a bottle of red wine fermented by a lost recipes from the ancient wine making maestro from the ancient Chinese history. There were inevitably the usual guns, violence, conspirators playing cat and mouse game by a bunch of Chinese on the foreign French soil...just for a bottle of RED WINE. Give me a break!
