Yawner, don't waste your time
This movie is boring as hell. There is nothing interesting about it at all. The "torture" scenes are like tickle fights compared to most movies in the genre. I get the premise of the movie, it's just not good. The attempt at realism is somewhat believable, but it's just not entertaining. Not scary, not horrifying, not interesting. This film could have been great if they had taken it more in the horror direction. It felt like they wanted it to be a horror movie, but were too afraid to go there. It was one of those flicks that seems like it will get good at any moment, but never makes it. It's worse than a bad B movie because I couldn't turn it off within the first five minutes. As a matter of fact, I'm not wasting any more of my life on this abortion. You have been warned.
I'm not scared. I'm nervous.
This is one of those films that you either hate or took part in making it. The film was neither scary nor shocking but most of it was black and white. People pay to submerge themselves in a tailored made frightening experience and become addicted to it. They make people get naked, watch films, be in the dark, a box, and put their hand over their face. Half the film is people talking in the abstract about their experience. Real torture is sitting through it. Guide: F-word, nudity.
Ridiculously poor
THE BLACKOUT EXPERIMENTS is a ridiculously poor attempt at an indie horror film, with a twist that it's done for real as a faux documentary. The format follows a bunch of people as they endure some of the lamest and silliest 'torture' ever put on film, while the viewer looks on. There's no horror content here, just endless talking head footage and a very slow pace. Why waste your time? You'd be better off watching a 'normal' horror film instead.
This is real
Just a note to anyone interested in this movie and the previous reviewer....this IS a REAL documentary. This stuff really did happen and is happening. These are real people who were part of some of the experiments. It is not a 'so called documentary'....it IS a documentary. After all that though, I didn't like it. People who like this sort of thing may find comfort knowing they are not alone and there is something out there that can cater for them.
This is what you get when you let /r/creepy write a movie
The so called documentary feels fake and is boring. When something does happen it's way too dark and shaky to see anything interesting. None of the subjects felt compelling or real and lack motivation. This movie takes itself way too serious. The only redeeming factor is that is shot somewhat nicely. Oh and that 'secret' survivor group that's willing to be on camera, come on...
