Women Are Heroes (2010) Reviews

  • When I left the room I felt completed with the quality of this work.

I just saw this magnificent documentary on the "Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival 2011" based on ab smart project and very creative. Filmed in a very dynamic where the goal and focus on the super harsh realities where "WOMAN" is the most discriminated even in today's 21st century. we have an amazing editing where time laps are very original and portrait plans, which show us the personality of those characters, they are so strong in a way that makes it a remarkable work. In the background the work and the iteration with the characters off the set before shooting, should be very intelligent , you can see that clearly cause they get very dis-inhibit to the point they are so real , automatic transforming the scenes in pure joy. Women are Heroes - directed by JR - 28 millimeters . A project, that was not sponsored by any brand. My congratulations are superb. A dynamic totally unlike anything I had seen before in Doc until today. When I left the room I felt completed with the quality of this work.

  • I was surprise how much I enjoy it

Now this is the only documentary by JR (acording to Imdbs any way) and I must admit I was pleasantly surprise and I wish there where more. The strongest part is the cinematography - I'm not a big fan of fast forward techniques but here it used to a great effect and made the whole experience much more enjoyable. All shots are amazing, spectacular and very original! One problem is the story... which to be honest could very well be told in 20 minutes. It's just series of interviews stretch together... Which could are all interesting on their own and the images that are shown on the way are great however it never felt like it building up to some big revile or conclusion. Still the who thing is inspiring enough to give this movie a very positive grade - it's inspired me as a filmmaker and as a human being...
